Our supporters assist us to deliver programs that provide access to oral health care for disadvantaged Australians.
Our mission is to address the inequality between those Australians who can access the dental care they need, and those who can’t. We want better access to quality dental care for all Australians regardless of their financial, geographical or social situation.
What we do
The Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF) seeks to improve the dental health of Australians who cannot easily access dental care.
Since 2008, the ADHF Foundation has coordinated the delivery of pro bono basic dental treatment to socially disadvantaged members of the community. The Foundation accepts referrals to the volunteer dental programs from clients who are being supported by a registered charity or not for profit organisation. Dentists volunteer their time, skills and practice facilities to provide treatment at no cost to eligible patients. In 2017-18, the ADHF delivered over $1,100,000 worth of dental care through our network of dedicated volunteers along with financial and in-kind support from industry supporters.
The ADHF also funds programs that encourage better oral health outcomes and reduce the inequality of access to education within the community through our Community Service Grants, Indigenous Scholarship Program and oral health education projects.
Formed in 2008 by the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Dental Health Foundation commenced with dentists across Australia coming together to improve the oral health of disadvantaged Australians. Dentists around the country have volunteered their time or made financial contributions to support needy Australians and to help provide resources where they are needed most.
In August 2017, the ADHF merged with the National Dental Foundation, which was established 13 years ago to provide a well organised and structured platform to enable those in the dental industry to step up and make a direct contribution to help disadvantaged members of our society. The merger will rationalise the provision of volunteer dental services in Australia and make their delivery more efficient.
